The Club was formed around 1994, and was originally named the Rum City Rodders.  This was changed in 2005 to Rum City Rods & Customs Inc at a time when parent bodies like the Australian Street Rod Federation (ASRF) and the American National Street Rod Association (NSRA) were recognizing customs as part of the Street Rodding fraternity.

As at 1 July 2017, the Club has 68 financial members with the average age of whom is 50 years young, and who collectively between them have some 73 vehicles, broken down by type as follows:

The Constitution and Rules of the Rum City Rods & Customs Inc. has as two of it’s objectives:

“To promote and enhance the sport of Constructing, Showing and Driving Street Legal Rods, and to encourage community interest and participation therein”

“To arrange and participate in Social and Competition meetings between members of this Association and other Clubs and Associations”
